Indian Born Rajeev Suri likely to become CEO of Nokia Solutions and Networks

Indian born Rajeev Suri currently head of Nokia Solutions and Networks which was previously known as Nokia Siemens Networks is likely to become Chief executive of Nokia following sale of Nokia Handset business to Microsoft. He is currently head of NSN since Oct 1, 2009.

Rajeev Suri is strongest candidate to succeed Stephen Elop. Rajeev Suri has done Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Mangalore University, Manipal Institute of Technology.

Recenly Satya Nadella Has become CEO of Microsoft after Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer . Satya Nadella was also alumnus from Manipal Institute of Technology.

Microsoft and Nokia likely to be finalized at the end of March and Nokia will select new CEO as previous CEO Stephan Elop will move to Microsoft after Nokia- Microsoft deal.

Nokia- Microsoft deal is expected at USD 7.5 billion i.e. Rs 46,000 crore.

He is one of those rare top corporate who has achieved heights without pursuing any MBA/PG degree.
Rajeev Suri helped NSN in restructuring the business and make profitable business which was turning into unprofitable business. Suri restructured company by laying off 25,000 jobs at NSN over the past few years as he worked very hard to turnaround the company through restructuring and fresh strategies. He once said that it’s very harsh to layoffs but it’s necessary for turning fortune of the company.

Rajeev Suri is currently 46 years old and Graduate from MIT in 1989 Batch.

Rajiv Suri is associated with Nokia in 1995. But before that he had worked with ICL and the RPG Group.

After the Microsoft acquisition of Nokia, Nokia will be left with :-

àLocation-based services
àAdvanced technologies business.


NSN Q4 FY14 sales fell 22 % from a year earlier which raised concerns about its growth prospects. Nokia was using Windows in their Smartphone’s and never used android which results into loss of Market share. Nokia at one time was market leader in cell-phone business.
