Microsoft to Buy Nokia in 2014


Microsoft on on 03rd Sept. 2013 said that they will buy Nokia Mobile phone business for 7.17 Billion Dollars. Nokia is a Finnish Firm which was world leader in Mobile phones a few years ago but after Launch of Android they lag a way behind a Nokia not using Android. Nokia has already strategic partnership with Microsoft for developing Windows for their Smartphones The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014 and it is subject to approval by shareholders and regulators.Microsoft will acquire:- Nokia devices & services business License Nokia's patents Mapping services REDMOND Nokia Lumia Series will also go to Microsoft. 32000 Employees will get transferred to Microsoft including 4,700 people in Finland and 18,300 employees directly involved in manufacturing, assembly and packaging of products worldwide. Microsoft will pay 3.79 Billion Euros for purchasing all Nokia'S device and Service business & 1.65 Billion Euros to License Nokia'S Patents for a Total Transaction price of Euro 5.44 Billion. This will benefit both Shareholders and Employees of Nokia and benefit for Microsoft as they expand their business in Smartphone market and bring more innovation for future prospective.
