Quikr raised Rs. 548 Crore from Kinnevik

On 13th March 2014 Quikr , Mumbai based company well known for classifieds platform was founded by Pranay Chulet five years earlier. Pranay Chulet is an  IIT-Delhi and IIM Calcutta alumnus.
Quikr has raised $90 million about Rs 548 crore majority of which was invested by a Swedish based Kinnevik a private equity fund.
It has direct competition with OLX. OLX is supported by South African internet and Media giant Naspers.
Quikr has 30 million monthly users with as many as 12 million listings through its mobile and online platforms.
Quikr is now valued at $250 million i.e. about Rs. 1500 Crore. The firm has since 2008 raised $140 million.
Quikr is bases on the concept of the American classifieds giant Craigslist.
Quikr has classified of jobs, automobiles, used goods, services and electronics.
This is huge achievement for Quickr as they had raised huge sums as Quikr business model is different from e-retailers like Flipkart and Snapdeal. Both of them raised huge funds from investors last year. Quikr focus is on classified ads and Flipkart and Snapdeal are selling products i.e. they have to maintain inventory , Logistics and Warehousing setup.
Quikr has planned to use these funds to enhance its product offering that works across all desktops and range of mobile devices, mobile websites, apps without any interruption. They has plans to enhance customer base from 30 million to 100 million.
Currently Quickr has 140 employees. Pranay Chulet was grown up in Rajashtan and later worked in New York for 10 years as a consultant and returned back to India in 2008 and started Quikr in 2009.
Quikr was formerly known as Kijiji.in. Quikr Mauritius Holding Pvt Ltd, the parent company of Quikr India Pvt. Ltd, has raised $32 million in May 2012 earlier from Warbug Pincus LIc, Matrix Partners India, Norwest Venture Partners and ebay. At that time Quikr had only 17 million Customers.
Quikr is not only targeting Internet customers but also targeting other customers which don’t have access to internet.  Quikr is using missed call strategy extensively  where people just call them and tell about the ads they want to post on our site Accordingly Quikr put advertisements for them.
