Cabinet Gives Mandate for 7th Pay Commission

Cheer for Central Government employees as The Cabinet has given the mandate to the 7th Pay Commission for revising salaries of over 50 lakh central government employees and remuneration of 30 lakh pensioners.
On 28th Feb 2014 Mandate has been given for the same. This is just ahead of General elections which are due in April-May.

The Commission said that they will make its recommendations within 18 months of the date of its constitution.
The recommendations will be made after keeping in view the economic conditions in the country.

Recommendations will be made after analyzing all the aspects related to fiscal deficit and resources available for development expenditures and welfare measures.

 The CPC's report will be applicable on following fields :-
àCentral Government employees
à All India Services
àPersonnel of the Union Territories,
àOfficers and employees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department
à Members of regulatory bodies
à Officers and employees of the Supreme Court
àPersonnel of Defence Forces
Te panel has also been asked to look at principles which should govern the structure of pension and other retirement benefits that will also includes revision of pension for those who have retired prior to the date of effect of these recommendations.
