India lags behind China in Gold Demand

India lags behind China in Gold Demand 1st time in History with demand stands at1,065.8 tonnes of the precious metal in 2013.

India's demand came down to 974.8 tonnes compared to China.


Indian govt increased massive custom duty and many restrictions on jewellery imports, India consumed more gold than 2012 in  2012 India consumption stands at 864 tonnes.


It is expected that in 2014 the demand in China is estimated at 1,000-1,100 tonnes while in India it is estimated at 900-1,000 tonnes.


China ramping up its demand by 32.0 per cent from the 2012 level, the World Gold Council reported on Tuesday.
The price of Gold is around $1,324.80 an ounce now.

The price of gold fell by 28.0 per cent last year, hit by massive withdrawals of investors' funds from ETFs.

Chinese demand was boosted by the rise of a middle class by high levels of savings and by a shortage of other opportunities for investment, Grubb said.
